Sales Tax
Registering with the Idaho Tax Commission:
Every booth MUST register as a Temporary Seller with the Idaho State Tax Commission. It is easy to overlook, but sales tax is required and an important thing to learn about doing business in Idaho. EVERY BOOTH needs to register with the Idaho Tax Commission prior to the event and must pay applicable taxes associated with their sales.
In order to host this event, The Kid Business Fair had to register as an event promoter with the Idaho Tax Commission and every booth that joins the event needs to register with them using our Event ID.
It’s easier than it sounds! Follow these simple instructions to get registered.

- I need a temporary permit.
- Click Next.
- Review your entry > Submit.
- Check your email account (Inbox, Junk, and Spam folders) for further instructions and your tax permit proving you registered.
Notes:
If multiple kids within your family are selling out of the same booth, just roll them up into one registration, no need to have multiple registrations for each booth.
Step #7 Clarification:
You will fall into one of three categories:
- “I am not making taxable sales” – Examples of this include: Demonstrating a product but not selling it, or Advertising a service.
- “I have a regular permit” – If you already have a permit, you don’t need a temporary one, but you still need to register, so on step #6, you’ll select “I have a regular permit”
- “I need a temporary permit” – Most sellers will fall under this category. You will receive a temporary seller permit which you will use to submit your sales tax after the event.
